Fit matters more than anything else

A muzzle the dog cannot pant in is dangerous, not safe. There must be clear room for the mouth to open. Measure snout length from just below the eyes to the tip of the nose, and circumference at the widest point, then check both against the size chart. If the dog cannot open their mouth properly, it is the wrong size.

Introducing it properly

Never put it straight on. Hold it, let the dog push their nose in to reach food, take it away before they pull back. Repeat over days, not minutes. Then fasten it for one second, feed, remove. Build up slowly. A dog who has been ambushed with a muzzle will fight it forever; a dog who has been paid to put their own nose in will offer it.
